Wendi Furman
I am a textile and mixed media artist based in beautiful Philadelphia PA.
My work is influenced by diverse textile traditions including American Crazy Quilts, Japanese Boro, Indian Kantha, narrative tapestries and simple, practical mending techniques. 90% of my materials are reclaimed, reused or rescued from vintage or non-recyclable sources. I strive to not only reclaim materials that would otherwise end up in landfills oroceans, but to reclaim art forms that have historically been denigrated as “women’s work”’ and elevate them to their deserved place in the art world.
ish studios is named for graffiti found on the interior wall of the studio in which I work. It reminds me that I Sew Here.
